A survey by Market Intelligence specialists, Acuiti, commissioned by Avelacom, the global connectivity and IT infrastructure provider for the financial services industry, has found that in their efforts to stabilise trading revenues, proprietary trading firms are overwhelmingly interested in trading new emerging markets.

Spectrum Markets Reports Successful First Calendar Year Of Trading

- The average growth rate of securitised derivatives traded in 2020 was 18% (MoM).
- In Q4 2020 170 million securitised derivatives were traded, marking a new high and an almost tenfold increase compared to Q4 2019.
- The average share of out-of-hours trading in 2020 (i.e. 1730-0900) was 38.7%.

Three quarters of proprietary trading firms are expecting to start taking market data from or begin trading on an emerging market or frontier exchange in 2021, a study by Acuiti has found.

Equiduct Reports A Year Of Significant Growth In 2020 - The Retail-Focused Exchange Continued To Gain Volume And Market Share Despite A Competitive European Environment - The Apex Service Continues To Attract New Clients Following Launch In November 2019

Equiduct, the pan-European retail-focused exchange, today released transaction results for full year 2020. It reported an overall ADV (average daily volume) of €281m for the last quarter of the year, gaining 65% in comparison to the same quarter in 2019. ADV for 2020 reached €283m, up from €149m in 2019 – an 88% increase. By comparison, trading activity across Europe’s lit markets grew by only 5% year on year. Total price improvement more than doubled from €2,202,176 to €5,420,506 – this means Equiduct was able to deliver an improvement of 146% to end investors on their execution prices when compared to the previous year.
