ASIC Launches Multiple Legal Actions Against Westpac

ASIC has commenced six civil penalty proceedings against Westpac in the Federal Court. The proceedings, each the result of an individual ASIC investigation, allege widespread compliance failures across multiple Westpac businesses. The alleged conduct occurred over many years and affected many thousands of consumers.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission today announced that the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California entered a consent order for permanent injunction, monetary sanctions, and equitable relief against defendants Travis Capson of Kanab, Utah, Arnab Sarkar of El Cerrito, California, and their California company Denari Capital, LLC (Denari) to resolve a CFTC action filed on November 5, 2019.
