HKEX: Temporary Holiday Risk Management Arrangements

The Traded Options Market will be closed for business on 25 December 2020 and 1 January 2021. In order to assure that safeguards are in place against potential market risk that may arise during the aforesaid period when some of the major markets are open, the Clearing House has decided to make a special intra-day margin call in respect of all open positions on Thursday, 24 December 2020 and Thursday, 31 December 2020.

On December 5, 2020, Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect marked its fourth anniversary. The accumulative trading value of both Northbound and Southbound trading are 23.11 trillion RMB. Northbound Stock Connect ran for 929 trading days, with a total turnover of 18.93 trillion yuan. The average daily turnover increased from 1.54 billion yuan in the first month of opening to 55.61 billion yuan in November, 2020, an increase of 3508.63%. Southbound Stock Connect ran for 909 trading days, with a cumulative turnover of 4.16 trillion yuan. The average daily trading value increased from 454 million yuan to 12.57 billion yuan in November, 2020, an increase of 2668.06%.

Moscow Exchange Launches Physically-Deliverable Wheat Futures

On 21 December 2020, the Moscow Exchange Derivatives Market launched trading in a deliverable futures contract on wheat. The new instrument was designed in partnership with VTB Capital to meet the needs of various market participants including agricultural producers, processors, wheat exporters as well as banks, brokers and their clients.

Cost Impacts From NZX IT And Cybersecurity Reviews

NZX has considered the recommendations and potential cost impacts following the completion of reviews commissioned by the NZX Board from independent service providers into the clearing and settlement incidents between March and April 2020, and the Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks that began in August 2020. NZX accepts that it did not meet its own high standards in certain areas of its technology systems.
