Monetary Authority Of Singapore, Securities Industry Council And Singapore Exchange Regulation: Further Extension Of Temporary Measure To Allow For Electronic Dissemination Of Rights Issue And Take-over Documents

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the Securities Industry Council (SIC) and the Singapore Exchange Regulation (SGX RegCo) wish to announce that listed issuers and parties involved in rights issues and take-over or merger transactions will continue to have the option to electronically disseminate Offer Documents through publication on SGXNET and their corporate websites, beyond 30 June 2021. The temporary measure will be in place until revoked or amended by MAS, SIC and SGX RegCo. To provide certainty to listed issuers and relevant parties, at least six months’ advance notice will be given before the temporary measure ceases to be available.

• Monday, July 5, 2021: The Exchange will open at its regular time at 6:00pm ET on Sunday evening for Monday’s trade date. The Exchange will list a limited offering of contracts and will close at 11:00am ET. Contracts will be listed as follows:

  • No indices, commodities, or Foreign Currency Knock-out Touch Bracket contracts will be listed on this day;

  • No Binary or Call Spread contracts will be listed for the USD/CAD, USD/CHF, EUR/GBP, GBP/JPY, AUD/JPY, or USD/MXN

I have been reflecting recently, and in connection with this speech, on America's centuries-long enthusiasm for novelty. In the main, it has served us and the world well, by making America the home of so many of the scientific and practical innovations that have transformed life in the 21st century from that of the 19th. But, especially when coupled with an equally American susceptibility to boosterism and the fear of missing out, it has also sometimes led to a mass suspension of our critical thinking and to occasionally impetuous, deluded crazes or fads.
