- Securities Market
- Market capitalisation was $46.6 trillion at the end of July 2021, an increase of 15 per cent from $40.6 trillion for the same period last year.
- The average daily turnover in July 2021 was $184.3 billion, an increase of 12 per cent from $165.1 billion for the same period last year.
- The average daily turnover for the first seven months of 2021 was $187.6 billion, an increase of 50 per cent when compared with $124.8 billion for the same period last year.
- The average daily turnover of derivative warrants for the first seven months of 2021 was $12.2 billion, an increase of 45 per cent when compared with $8.4 billion for the same period last year.
- The average daily turnover of ETFs for the first seven months of 2021 was $6.5 billion, an increase of 20 per cent when compared with $5.4 billion for the same period last year.
- The average daily turnover of Debt Securities for the first seven months of 2021 was $410 million, an increase of 64 per cent when compared with $250 million for the same period last year.
- Funds raised through IPOs for the first seven months of 2021 was $253.2 billion, an increase of 85 per cent when compared with $136.5 billion for the same period last year.
- Total funds raised for the first seven months of 2021 was $536.2 billion, an increase of 71 per cent when compared with $314.4 billion for the same period last year.

UK Financial Conduct Authority Stops BDSwiss Offering Contracts For Differences (CFDs) To UK Customers

The FCA has acted to stop a Cypriot-based firm, BDSwiss Holding Plc, and other members of the BDSwiss Group from offering high risk contracts for differences (CFDs) to UK investors. The BDSwiss Group trades using the brands BDSwiss, Swissmarkets and BDS Trading.

The spread of the COVID-19 Delta variant has intensified in Thailand with approximately 15,000 new patients a day in late July, while the SET Index dropped by 4.1 percent from the preceding month. Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is maintaining its estimate of the global economic growth at 6 percent in 2021, by revising the growth rate forecasts of developed economies upwards but lowering those of developing countries on the heels of unequal access to COVID-19 vaccines.

SGX Receives Long-Term Aa2 Rating, The Highest Assigned To Any Exchange Group By Moody’s

Singapore Exchange (SGX) today announced it has obtained first-time credit ratings from Moody’s Investors Service (Moody’s). Moody’s has assigned to SGX Aa2 long-term local and foreign currency issuer ratings with a stable outlook. The Aa2 rating is the highest credit rating assigned to any exchange group by Moody’s.

SGX Reports FY2021 Net Profit Of S$447 Million

Singapore Exchange (SGX) today reported FY2021 adjusted net profit of S$446.9 million (S$482.1 million). Revenues of S$1,056.0 million (S$1,052.7 million) were comparable to record revenues set in FY2020, with underlying business revenue up 7% excluding the decline in treasury income, amidst a low interest rate environment.

- Volatility (as measured by the average daily movement in the All Ordinaries Index) was 0.5% in July (compared to 0.9% in the pcp).
- Expected future volatility (as measured by the S&P/ASX 200 VIX) in July was an average of 12.0 (compared to 19.1 in the pcp).
