BIS Renews Commitment To The FX Global Code

The Bank for International Settlements has reviewed the content of the FX Global Code, as updated in July 2021, and acknowledges that the Code represents a set of principles generally recognised as good practice in the wholesale foreign exchange market. The BIS confirms that it acts as a market participant as defined by the Code, and is committed to conducting its FX market activities in a manner consistent with the principles of the Code. To this end, the BIS has taken appropriate steps, based on the size and complexity of its activities, and the nature of its engagement in the FX market, to align its activities with the principles of the Code.

The Chicago Business Barometer^TM, produced with MNI, recovered to 60.3 in May, following last month’s dip to 56.4. Inventories saw a fresh near 50-year high. All main indicators increased except for supplier deliveries, which hit the lowest since November 2020.

Interestingly, despite inflation and geopolitical risk featuring strongly as top concerns among retail investors, only 21% of traders thought that interest rate hikes would be a key event for financial markets this year.
