  • Readout: US Deputy Secretary Of The Treasury Wally Adeyemo Chairs Meeting With Financial And Banking Infrastructure Committee

    U.S. Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo chaired a meeting today with members of the Financial and Banking Information Infrastructure Committee (FBIIC) to discuss the group’s collective and individual cybersecurity efforts. The Deputy Secretary recognized the agencies’ work to monitor and harden its cyber defenses at a time of increased threats due to Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of information sharing in detecting suspicious or malicious activity so that financial entities can better protect themselves. The participants received an update on the work of the FBIIC Cloud Working Group and other joint efforts to make progress on data identification and protection and incident notification. Deputy Secretary Adeyemo underscored that a heightened threat level is likely to continue in the future and urged participants to accelerate efforts on joint cybersecurity projects during the remaining months of this year and into next.

  • BaFin Orders Deutsche Bank AG To Take Measures

    On 28 September 2022, BaFin ordered Deutsche Bank AG to take specific measures aimed at preventing money laundering and terrorist financing in order to implement the orders that BaFin issued on 21 September 2018 and 15 February 2019. BaFin has threatened to impose financial penalties in the event that the bank does not comply with these specific measures. The order was issued on the basis of section 51 (2) sentence 1 of the German Money Laundering Act (Geldwäschegesetz – GwG).
