Trading Report For Kuwait Stock Exchange - February 2000

The index of Kuwait Stock Exchange reached 1368.5 at the end of February. This was an decrease of 17.7 points from the close registered at the end of January. In February 422,522,500 shares were traded, an increase of 74.47% over the January volume. Value traded was KWD57,402,300, an increase of 31.91% over January's traded value. In February there were 8,843 transactions, an increase of 93.03 over the January figure.

The Open Interest On The New Futures Contract On the S&P/TSE 60 Index Breaks Through The 100,000 Mark

The futures contract on the S&P/TSE 60 Index (SXF) set a new record yesterday. Open interest on the SXF surpassed the 100,000 mark, reaching 116 486 outstanding contracts for a value of over 12.5 billion dollars by the end of the day, on March 8th. Open interest is the number of outstanding contracts at a specified point in time, i.e. the number of open positions.

Distant month: opening 83.50 yen, a high 83.90 (Feb. 28), low 78.70 yen (Mar. 2), closing 79.70 yen. On February 28, OME RSS3 futures market opened sharply lower on long-liquidation with distant month falling to 83.50 yen from 84.70 yen at last Friday's close.

Osaka Mercantile Exchange Aluminium Futures Weekly Report

Distant month : opening 178.0 yen, a high 178.0 yen (Feb.28), a low 170.9 yen (Mar.2), closing 173.7 yen. On February 28, OME Aluminium Futures opened lower with distant January contract at 177.0 yen, down 2.4 yen from last Friday’s close on fresh selling and long-liquidation due to the easier tone in LME Aluminium. Downward drift was accelerated by the yen’s rise.

Nasdaq Composite Index Tops 5000 - 15th Composite Index Record For The Year

The Nasdaq Composite® Index yesterday climbed above the 5000 mark for the first time in its 29-year history. Preliminary figures show the Index finished at 5046.86, a gain of 149.60 for the day. Today’s record close also marked the Nasdaq Composite’s fifth largest one-day point increase.

Montreal Exchange Signs An Agreement With Euronext To Use NSC System

In connection with its partnership in the GLOBEX® Alliance announced on September 14, 1999, the Montreal Exchange announces an agreement with Euronext, an affiliate of ParisBourse SBF SA, for the use of the NSC electronic trading platform starting next fall.

TSE And Barclays Complete Tips/Iunits Mergers

The mergers of the Toronto 35 Index Participation Fund (TIPS 35) and the TSE 100 Index Participation Fund (TIPS 100) with the iUnits S&P/TSE 60 Index Participation Fund (i60 Fund) were completed after the close of the market on March 6, 2000. The mergers had been approved by unitholders of the TIPS 35 and TIPS 100 Fund at special meetings held in Toronto on February 28, 2000.

Singapore Exchange (SGX) Implementation Of T+3 From 15 March 2000

With effect from 15 March 2000, the Singapore Exchange (SGX) will shorten the settlement period for securities trading to T+3 market days which is in line with moves by major international stock markets to shorter settlement cycles. Trades done on or after 15 March will be subject to the new settlement requirements.
