  • Project A Trades for First Time Directly From Tokyo

    Continuing its global expansion, the Chicago Board of Trade announced on March 23 that the first-ever trade from Tokyo on the exchange's electronic system, Project A, was executed last night (March 22) at 18:02 Chicago time, 09:02 Tuesday March 23 in Tokyo. The trade was made from CBOT member firm Morgan Stanley, the first firm to place a Project A workstation in Asia.

    The Board of Directors of the IPE on Tuesday March 23 reviewed the future of the Exchange. The IPE is currently in discussions with a number of large and well-respected companies involved in the European energy business, with a view to those companies offering to acquire a large stake in the Exchange.   • Paris Stock Exchange Trading Volume Dips From January's Record High

    Trading volume on the Paris markets dipped slightly in February, to 4.12 million trades. The daily average was EUR2.29 million for February is below January's record figure of EUR2.62 billion, but is 37% higher than in February 1998 and 11% higher than 1998's daily average value. Year-to-date transaction volume for the months of January and February stood at 8.78 million trades, a 27% increase from 1998.
