    Mr Tay Yew Khem and Ms Hui Choy Leng have been convicted and sentenced to 12 weeks’ imprisonment and 4 months’ imprisonment respectively for insider trading in the shares of Broadway Industrial Group Limited (BIGL), and for other offences under the Securities and Futures Act (SFA) and the Corruption, Drug Trafficking and Other Serious Crimes (Confiscation of Benefits) Act (CDSA).

    China Financial Futures Exchange (the “Exchange”) hereby releases the 30-Year China Government Bond Futures Contract Specifications, the Detailed Trading Rules of China Financial Futures Exchange for 30-Year China Government Bond Futures Contract, the Measures of China Financial Futures Exchange on Risk Control (Revised),  and the Detailed Delivery Rules of China Financial Futures Exchange for China Government Bond Futures Contract (Revised), which have been reported to the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC).

    On April 14, 2023, the General Office of the State Council issued the Opinions on Reform of the Independent Director System of Listed Companies (hereinafter referred to as the Opinions). The Opinions sets forth systematic reform tasks from eight aspects, including clarifying the responsibilities of independent directors, optimizing the modes of their performance of duty, strengthening the management of their qualifications, improving the system for their selection and appointment, strengthening the guarantee for their performance of duty, tightening supervision and management for their performance of duty, improving the restraint mechanism for their responsibilities, and optimizing the collaborative and efficient internal and external supervision system. It provides important guidelines for promoting the formation of a more scientific and reasonable independent director system.

  • Monetary Authority Of Singapore Monetary Policy Statement - April 2023

    INTRODUCTION

    1.   In October 2022, MAS tightened its monetary policy for the fifth consecutive time within 12 months. The mid-point of the Singapore dollar nominal effective exchange rate (S$NEER) policy band was re-centred up to the then-prevailing level of the S$NEER near the top of the band. There was no change to the slope and width of the band. Although Singapore’s GDP growth was expected to slow, MAS had assessed that a further tightening of monetary policy was needed to help dampen still-elevated inflation and ensure medium-term price stability.

  • Canadian Securities Regulators Propose Changes To Corporate Governance Disclosure Practices And Guideline

     The Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) is seeking public comment on proposed amendments to corporate governance disclosure rules and policy relating to the director nomination process, board renewal and diversity. They would require disclosure on aspects of diversity beyond the representation of women, while retaining the current disclosure requirements with respect to women. In addition, the CSA is proposing changes to the corporate governance policy that would enhance the existing corporate governance guidelines relating to the director nomination process and introduce guidelines regarding board renewal and diversity.
