CFTC Amends Rules On Permissable Investments

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has announced amendments to its rules which are designed to further expand permissible investments for futures commission merchants (FCMs) and clearinghouses. Rule 1.25 sets forth the types of instruments in which FCMs and clearinghouses may invest segregated customer funds. Boston Options Exchange Joins The Options Clearing Corporation

The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) and The Boston Stock Exchange (BSE) announced today that the BSE's Boston Options Exchange trading facility (BOX) has become an OCC participant exchange. This follows the recent approval of BOX's trading rules by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). BOX will begin operation today.

UK's Financial Services Authority Bans Six Individuals

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has banned six former directors of a UK insurance company called Chiyoda Fire and Marine Insurance Company (Europe) Limited (CE) for their role in distorting the financial results of CE during 1999 and 2000. CE is currently known as Aioi Insurance Company of Europe (AE). This is the FSA's first enforcement action in relation to senior management of an insurance company.
