UK’s Financial Services Authority Fines Individual £15,000 For Market Abuse

The FSA has today fined Peter Bracken £15,000 for committing market abuse. Mr Bracken, the former Group Head of Communications at Whitehead Mann Group plc ('WMG'), was found to have, on separate occasions in September and November 2002, misused unpublished, confidential information about the company's financial performance to trade in WMG shares for personal profit.

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange announced today that volume in sectors index options trading reached 391,052 contracts marking a 38.28% increase in volume compared to the same year-ago period when 282,790 contracts traded. Sectors index options trading decreased 24.70% from the previous month when 519,352 contracts traded. Year-to date, trading increased 109.09%.

Sydney Futures Exchange experienced the largest transaction volumes on record today (July 6) for the SFE 30 Day Interbank Cash Rate Futures contracts. The total volume for the day was 9,416, up 36% compared to the previous record of 6,070 contracts set on March 12, 2004.
