UK’s Financial Services Authority Announces Soft Commissions Policy Update

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has today published a supplementary policy statement which sets out the FSA's views on 'non-permitted services', 'execution' and 'research'. This should assist the industry to continue its progress towards a market-based solution to the transparency and accountability issues raised by soft and bundled brokerage commissions. That progress has been encouraging so far.

Standard & Poor’s will make the following changes to the S&P 500, S&P MidCap 400 and S&P SmallCap 600 Indices: S&P MidCap 400 constituent L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. (NYSE:LLL) will replace WellPoint Health Networks Inc. (NYSE:WLP) in the S&P 500 after the close of trading on a date to be announced. WellPoint is being acquired by S&P 500 constituent Anthem Inc. OMXS30 And OMXH25 - The New Index Names On OMX And HEX25

OMXS30 and OMXH25 – the new index names on OMX and HEX25 Stockholm Stock Exchange and Helsinki Stock Exchange will change the names of their OMX and HEX25 indexes on November 15, 2004. The new name of the OMX index will be OMXS30, with the letter S standing for Stockholm. The HEX25 index’s new name will be OMXH25, with the letter H standing for Helsinki. The figures designate the number of shares included in the tradable index.
