Registered representatives enjoyed an uptick in their business in 2004, as 2003’s modest return of investors to the markets took on new momentum. As clients reinvested gains and refueled their accounts, SIA’s Report on Production & Earnings of Registered Representatives – 2004 shows that the average RR’s production increased 12 percent to $418,003. The average client’s portfolio increased 16.0 percent to $159,932 during the same period.

SEC Announces Settlement With College Savings Plan For Untrue Statements And Ommissions - First-Ever Case Prompts Commission Guidance on Section 529 Educational Savings Plans

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced a settled cease-and-desist proceeding against the Utah Educational Savings Plan Trust (UESP) for untrue statements and omissions by the UESP concerning errors in its systems of operation and its method of accounting for investor transactions. The UESP administers a Section 529 educational savings plan for Utah.

RTS Index has Reached Its Historic Maximum

On August 2, 2005 RTS index reached its historic maximum at the rate of 791,07 points. The previous all-time high at the rate of 782,52 points was set on April 12, 2004. The maximum RTS index value at the closure of trading session was also set on August 2 at the rate of 790,63 points.

MICEX Sets Volume Record In USD/RUR Futures

Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange set a daily volume record in USD/RUR Futures on August 2, 2005 when 180 000 contracts were traded with a notional value of USD 180 mln. (or RUR 5,2 billion), surpassing the previous record of 105 000 contracts set on May 16.

Labuan International Financial Exchange Market Cap Reaches Usd12 Billion With The Listing Of Sarawak International Incorporated Notes

The total market capitalisation of Labuan International Financial Exchange (LFX) has reached USD12.09 billion (RM45.3 billion, 1USD=RM3.75 as at 2 August 2005) with the primary listing of USD600 million guaranteed notes issued by Sarawak International Incorporated (SII), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SGOS Capital Holdings Sdn Bhd (SGOS).

KCBT Wheat Futures Open Interest Sets New Record, Tops 92,000

Open interest in the Kansas City Board of Trade hard red winter wheat futures contract has set a new record. At the conclusion of Wednesday’s trading, open interest was at 92,776 contracts, breaking the previous record of 91,261 contracts set on June 21, 2001.
