Boston Options Exchange November 2005 Volumes Up 83% Over Previous Year

For the month of November 2005, BOX’s average daily volume was 374,566 contracts, 83% above the same period one year earlier. November average daily volume was the second highest recorded to date.

In November trading in equities on the Spanish market through SIBE reached € 69.08 bn, 22% up on the same month in 2004. The value of trading on Latibex came in at € 60 million, a monthly record high. The number of options and futures contracts traded on MEFF to November was 33.71 million, 39% up on the year. Trading volume in Corporate Debt on AIAF in November was 57% up on the same month last year.

Turnover on Eurex, the international derivatives market, rose by 23 percent to 114 million contracts in November. In the first eleven months of this year, 1.16 billion contracts were traded, a year-on-year increase of around 18 percent. Turnover this year has already exceeded the record of 1.07 billion contracts achieved in 2004. In addition, open interest rose to a new record level of 107.9 million contracts on 17 November.
