NYSE Regulation To File Proposed Rule On Business Entertainment Rule With SEC

New York Stock Exchange Regulation today announced that it will submit a rule filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on proposed principle-based standards that address the obligations of securities firms and individual brokers in connection with business entertainment.

NYBOT Sugar Market Rings Up Big Numbers - New Volume And Open Interest Records In Frantic Trading Day

The Sugar No. 11sm (symbol SB) market at the New York Board of Trade® (NYBOT®) is on a record roll. NYBOT’s largest market became a juggernaut on January 20, 2006, when a record 232,560 total contracts changed hands, smashing the old high of 179,562 contracts set on Jan 26, 2005. New marks went up for futures (153,201 contracts) and options (79,359 contracts). Options open interest also hit an all-time high of 654,712 contracts, as the NYBOT World Sugar price hit its highest level since 1981

Instinet, a global equities execution agent, today launched Cobra, a stealth ordermanagement algorithm that opportunistically removes portions of liquidity when available, thereby leaving the stock’s spread unchanged. Performing like a seasoned trader, the algorithm will take into account a stock’s historical quoting trends to determine the best execution point, making the trade largely undetectable by the market.

Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited (HKFE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), has announced that with effect from the commencement of trading on Wednesday, 1 February 2006, the minimum margins to be collected by an Exchange Participant from its clients in respect of their dealings in the following futures contracts will be as outlined in the table below.
