    The American Stock Exchange (Amex) member and non-member organizations today reported short interest of 769,610,713 shares as of the January 13, 2006 settlement date, a decrease of 232,871 from the 769,843,584 (adjusted) shares reported in mid-December. The January figure represents trades through January 10, 2006.
