The Securities and Exchange Commission has obtained an emergency court order and asset freeze to shut down a fraudulent prime bank scheme that promised massive returns to investors nationwide and then offered a range of administrative excuses when investors had not received any payments.

Irish Stock Exchange Admits J.P. Morgan As A Primary Dealer Member Firm

The Irish Stock Exchange (ISE) has admitted J.P. Morgan Securities Ltd. (“J.P. Morgan”) as a member firm of the ISE. J.P. Morgan will operate as a Primary Dealer in Irish Government bonds. This brings to 11 the number of Primary Dealers which are member firms of the Exchange. The role of a Primary Dealer is to continuously make two way markets in Irish Government bonds and to participate in competitive auctions organised by the National Treasury Management Agency.

The Federal Reserve notes the Financial Accounting Standards Board's publication today of Statements of Financial Accounting Standards No. 166 and 167 (FAS 166 and 167), which will have a material effect on banking organizations' accounting for off-balance sheet vehicles. These statements, which become effective in 2010, address weaknesses in accounting and disclosure standards for off-balance sheet vehicles.
