The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that it has charged Beverly Hills, Calif.-based NewPoint Financial Services, Inc. and its co-owners and controller for conducting an unregistered offering fraud aimed at Iranian-Americans in the Los Angeles area. The SEC obtained an emergency court order to freeze their assets and preserve remaining funds that were collected from investors.

The NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:NDAQ), the world's largest exchange company, is expanding its previously announced agreement with Morningstar, Inc. (Nasdaq:MORN), a leading provider of independent investment research, to provide comprehensive analyst research reports on NASDAQ-listed companies. In June 2009, NASDAQ OMX and Morningstar entered into an exclusive agreement for Morningstar to provide basic equity research profile reports on all NASDAQ-listed companies.

Malaysia Is World's Top Sukuk Listing Destination - Bursa Malaysia Attracted USD 17.6 Billion In Sukuk Listings In 2009

Bursa Malaysia topped the world’s exchanges in terms of value of sukuk programme listings in 2009, recording a total of USD17.6 billion. Since its inaugural sukuk listing in August 2009, the Exchange listed 12 sukuk by end of December 2009 which contributed towards this development.

The Financial Stability Board (FSB) met in Basel on 9 January to take forward the regulatory policy reform agenda and reaffirm the timelines for policy development and implementation in 2010.
