  • BM&FBOVESPA: SMAL11 Financial Volume Of BRL24.23 Million Hits New One-Day Record

    The SMAL11 ETF, which is based on the Small Cap Index, had a record BRL24.23 million financial volume in Friday’s BM&FBOVESPA session. There were 374,590 SMAL11 stocks sold at an average price of BRL64.69, in 63 transactions. The previous record for this ETF was BRL5.06 million, on October 1, 2010. Financial volumes in BOVA11, PIBB11, MOBI11 and CSMO11 were BRL43.83 million, BRL1.79 million, BRL255,840 and BRL72,090, respectively.

    BATS Global Markets, a global stock market operator, reports the BATS 1000℠Index (BATSK) declined 0.4% for the week ending January 28 in the U.S. The S&P 500 Index declined 0.5% for the same period.

  • Standard & Poor's Announces Changes In The S&P/TSX Canadian Indices

    Standard & Poor's Canadian Index Operations announces the following index changes: Brookfield Asset Management Inc. (TSX:BAM.A) has acquired 113.3 million shares of General Growth Properties Inc. from the Fairholme Fund. Brookfield Asset Management has issued 27.5 million shares to Fairholme as part of the payment in the transaction. The relative weight of Brookfield Asset Management will increase in the S&P/TSX Composite and Capped Composite, the S&P/TSX Equity and Capped Equity, the S&P/TSX 60, 60 Capped and Equity 60, the S&P/TSX MegaCap, the S&P/TSX Capped Real Estate and the S&P/TSX Composite Dividend indices to reflect this issuance of Brookfield shares. There will be no change to the weight of Brookfield Asset Management in the S&P/TSX 60 Equal Weight or the S&P/TSX 60 130/30 Strategy Index. These changes will be effective after close on Friday, February 4, 2011.

  • Standard & Poor's Announces Changes In The S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index

    Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Friday, January 28, 2011: Cervus Equipment Corporation (TSXVN:CVL) will be removed from the index. The company will graduate to trade on the TSX under the same ticker symbol. The shares of Lysander Minerals Corporation (TSXVN:LYM) will trade under the new name EastCoal Inc. The new ticker symbol will be "ECX" and the new CUSIP number will be 276165 10 7.
