    Over the week of October 26 – October 30, 2009, the RTS Index went down by 7.72% to reach 1,348.54 points (1,461.30 points as of October 23, 2009). Most of the negative impact on the Index dynamics was related to the falling prices for ordinary shares of OAO "LUKOIL" (LKOH) (minus 21.50 points) followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) (minus 20.12 points) and Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) (minus 17.02 points).

    In October 2009, cumulative turnover on SIX Swiss Exchange and Scoach Switzerland Ltd amounted to CHF 104.27 billion, 8.7 % higher than in the previous month. The total number of transactions also increased by 6.3 % to 2,827,596. Trading in the ETF segment recorded yet another gain: turnover rose by 35.2 % to CHF 6.1 billion and trading volume by 13.6 % to a total of 49,956 transactions.   • European Energy Exchange: Record Volume On The Spot Market For Natural Gas In October - Volume For The Month Exceeds 500,000 Mwh For The First Time Ever

    The trade volume on the Natural Gas Spot Market of European Energy Exchange AG (EEX) has reached a new record level in October. At a volume for the month of 564,861 MWh (GPL and NCG market areas) the highest volume for any month since the launch of trading has been achieved (October 2008: 118,890 MWh). The highest volume for a day (93,888 MWh) was achieved on 29 October.

    Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Monday, November 2, 2009: The shares of Kenrich-Eskay Mining Corp. (TSXVN:KRE) will trade under the new name Eskay Mining Corp. The new ticker symbol will be "ESK" and the new CUSIP number 296437 10 6. There is no consolidation of capital.

  • CBOE October Daily Volume Averages 4.6 Million Contracts - Down 6% YTD, 21% From All-Time-Record October In 2008

    The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) today reported that trading volume during October 2009 averaged 4.6 million contracts per day, a decline of 21 percent from October 2008 when average daily volume (ADV) was 5.8 million contracts.Trading volume in October 2009 totaled 101.8 million contracts versus the record 134.2 million contracts traded in October 2008.When compared to September 2009, October total volume rose three percent, while ADV was off two percent.
