August 2010 Monthly Preliminary Performance Report Dow Jones-UBS Commodity Indexes

The Dow Jones-UBS Commodity Index was down -4.08% for the month of August. The Dow Jones-UBS Single Commodity Indexes for Cotton, Silver and Gold had the strongest gains with month-to-date returns of 7.75%, 5.61%, and 4.85%, respectively. The three most significant downside performing single commodity indexes were Natural Gas, Cocoa and Unleaded Gas, which were down -20.82%, -11.78%, and -11.35% respectively, in August.
Hong Kong Members Gain Direct Access To NYSE Liffe

NYSE Liffe, the Europe-based derivatives business of NYSE Euronext (NYX), has received regulatory approval from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission to provide Automated Trading Services (ATS) in Hong Kong with immediate effect giving customers in Hong Kong direct and therefore faster access than ever before to trading on the London market of NYSE Liffe via its electronic platform, LIFFE CONNECT®.

Exegy, Inc., the market data appliance company announced today that the Exegy Ticker Plant driving the MarketDataPeaks web site hit 3,409,640 messages per second. This is a new record and surpasses the previous high water mark of 3,389,942 mps reached on 30 July when the market reacted to poor Q2 GDP growth data and downward revisions to prior quarterly data.

Based on the close of trading on August 24 the global Dow Jones Islamic Market Titans 100 Index, which measures the performance of 100 of the leading Shari’ah compliant stocks globally, dropped -3.45% month-to-date, closing at 1888.71. In comparison, the Dow Jones Global Titans 50 Index, which measures the 50 biggest companies worldwide, posted a loss of -3.65%, closing at 152.75.
