Thank you, Chairman Schapiro. I want to first thank the staff for their excellent work on this release. Today’s release amending six Exchange Act rules and one Exchange Act form continues our effort to meet the requirements of Section 939A of Dodd-Frank, which directs the Commission to review references to and requirements of reliance on credit ratings in our rules and remove and substitute them with appropriate standards of creditworthiness.

The Securities and Exchange Commission today voted unanimously to propose amendments that would remove references to credit ratings in several rules under the Exchange Act.

NASDAQ Announces Mid-Month Open Short Interest Positions In NASDAQ Stocks As Of Settlement Date April 15, 2011

At the end of the settlement date of April 15, 2011, short interest in 2,333 NASDAQ Global Market^SM securities totaled 6,488,518,331 shares compared with 6,281,450,253 shares in 2,340 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of March 31, 2011. The mid-April short interest represents 3.72 days average daily NASDAQ Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 3.19 days for the prior reporting period.
