  • MGEX Announces April Trading Volume Record

    MGEX, a Designated Contract Market (DCM) and Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO), today announced April 2011 volume records.  With 174,280 contracts traded in the month, April was a top 15 month for total volume in the Exchange’s 130 year history.  April 28 saw 17,932 contracts trade, the eleventh-highest volume day in the history of MGEX.  The same day saw trading of Hard Red Spring Wheat (HRSW) options set a new daily volume record when 4,623 options contracts traded at MGEX.  Electronic trading volume reached 144,577 last month, marking the best April electronic volume on record and the sixth-best electronic trading month in history.

  • BM&FBOVESPA: Competitive Bidding Process To Select Market Makers For Options On The Stock Of OGX Petróleo E Gás And Itaú Unibanco Holding

    BM&FBOVESPA held a public consultation into the rules for the selection, accreditation and performance of market makers for equity options, and after examining the suggestions and observations made by market participants it submitted the rules for analysis by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Brazil (CVM), which approved them with the understanding that non-resident institutions may also participate, observing the relevant regulations.

  • SEC: Fee Rate Advisory #1 For Fiscal Year 2012

    The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that, if a regular appropriation to the Commission for fiscal year 2012 is enacted on or before Oct. 1, 2011, the fees rates applicable to most securities transactions will decrease from $19.20 per million dollars to $15.10 per million dollars in fiscal year 2012. The new fee rates will go into effect on the later of Oct. 1, 2011 or 30 days after the appropriation is enacted. The assessment on security futures transactions will remain unchanged at $0.0042 for each round turn transaction.

  • NYSE Euronext Comments On Nasdaq/ICE Announcement That It Intends to Commence Exchange Offer On Same Terms That Have Been Unanimously Rejected

    NYSE Euronext (NYSE: NYX) notes that Nasdaq OMX Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NDAQ) and IntercontinentalExchange Inc. (NYSE: ICE) have announced their intention to begin an unsolicited exchange offer some time in May to acquire all outstanding shares of NYSE Euronext.  NYSE Euronext further notes that Nasdaq and ICE have announced that the terms of the offer will be the same as previously proposed.  On April 21, 2011, NYSE Euronext’s Board of Directors unanimously rejected this proposal from Nasdaq OMX/ICE.  NYSE Euronext’s financial advisers are Perella Weinberg Partners, BNP Paribas, Goldman, Sachs and Co., and Morgan Stanley & Co., Inc.   Its legal advisers are Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, Stibbe N.V. and Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP.
