    At the end of the settlement date of January 13, 2012, short interest in 2,267 NASDAQ Global MarketSM securities totaled 6,699,994,804 shares compared with 6,433,379,539 shares in 2,271 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of December 30, 2011. The mid-January short interest represents 5.31 days average daily NASDAQ Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 3.60 days for the prior reporting period.

  • CFTC Releases Results Of Limited Reviews Of Futures Commission Merchants - CFTC Did Not Find Any Material Breaches Of Customer Funds Protection Requirements During The Spot Check

    The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC or Commission) today released findings of limited reviews of futures commission merchants (FCMs) to assess compliance with requirements to segregate customer funds pursuant to Section 4d of the Commodity Exchange Act (ACT). The limited reviews also covered the FCMs’ obligation to set aside in secured accounts funds deposited by customers for trading on foreign boards of trade under Section 4(b) of the Act and Part 30 of the Commission’s regulations. As of the review date for each FCM, all of the FCMs were in compliance with the segregation or Part 30 secured amount requirements.

    The  Financial  Stability  Board  (FSB)  published today  the  report  on  the  peer  review  of Switzerland. The  main  purpose  of  the  report  is  to  assess  Switzerland’s  progress  in addressing regulatory and supervisory issues raised by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) under the Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP) in 2006-07. The report also provides an overview of market and regulatory developments since the FSAP was published.
