  • HKFE Announces Revised Margins For Esprit Holdings Futures

    Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited (HKFE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), has announced that with effect from the commencement of trading on Monday, 13 August 2012, the minimum margins to be collected by an Exchange Participant from its clients in respect of their dealings in the following futures contract will be as outlined in the table below.  The adjustments are based on the clearing company’s normal procedures and standard margining methodology.

  • Illegal Futures Trading: Securities Commission Malaysia Recovers RM2.3 Million From Seven Individuals

    The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has successfully obtained a judgement in the High Court here on Wednesday that saw seven individuals involved in illegal futures trading activities agreeing to settle a sum of more than RM2.3 million, the amount  that they had solicited from members of the public and which was claimed by the SC against them.

  • New Milestones Achieved In Eurex’s Futures On French Government Bonds - Open Interest Now Exceeds 100,000 Contracts

    The international derivatives market Eurex Exchange announced today that it has set several new records in its Euro-OAT Futures. In August 2012, open interest exceeded for the first time the 100,000 threshold with 104,869 contracts. Trading volume in July also set a new record, both in average daily volume with about 19,600 contracts and in total with 431,000 contracts. Total volume since launch is close to 1.5 million contracts. The OAT futures were launched on 16 April and are based on the notional long-term bonds issued by the French Republic (Obligations Assimilables du Trésor – OAT).

    NYSE Euronext (NYX) today announced trading volumes for its global derivatives and cash equities exchanges for July 20121. Trading volumes in July 2012 were down year-over-year and month-over-month across all primary trading venues.

    On July 27, the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) released the “SSE Detailed Rules (Draft Version) for Trading of Shares with Risk Alert” (the Detailed Rules for short), which marked the materialization and institutionalization of the delisting scheme of the SSE and the "SSE Stock Listing Rules". 

  • Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Dual Licensing Fast Track Programme - Eligibility Requirement Further Eased With Minimum Years Experience Reduced From 10 To 5 Years

    The eligibility requirement to become futures broker representatives of Bursa Malaysia Derivatives (BMD) under the Dual Licensing Fast Track (DLFT) programme has been further eased from 10 to 5 years of experience, subject to dealer representatives attending an additional 2-day familiarisation program. The extension of the DLFT programme will be for another two years until June 2014. The previous participation criteria requiring candidates to have at least 10 years of experience and attendance of a 4-day familiarisation program will remain, for the more experienced dealer representatives.
