European Parliament: Pendulum Swings Firmly In Favour Of Eurozone Financial Transaction Tax

A very broad agreement in favour of an EU financial transaction tax emerged on Monday, at the start of the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee's work on the legislative proposal. Spokespersons for Parliament's various political groups all advocated such a tax, at least throughout the Eurozone, and many deplored France's weekend hint that it could go it alone.

CFTC Orders Newedge USA, LLC, A Registered Futures Commission Merchant, To Pay $700,000 For Submitting Inaccurate Large Trader Reports To The CFTC And For Violating A Prior CFTC Order

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today announced that it entered an order requiring Newedge USA, LLC (Newedge), a New York-based futures commission merchant, to pay a $700,000 civil monetary penalty for submitting inaccurate large trader reports to the CFTC and for violating a February 7, 2011, CFTC order directing Newedge to improve the accuracy and timeliness of its large trader reporting.
