SIDC And UiTM To Jointly Develop Talent For The Capital Market

The Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC), the training and development arm of the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), today entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) to introduce a capital market syllabus for its university students. This collaboration is aimed at supporting the talent development requirements in the Malaysian capital market and building a graduate talent pool that is “work-ready” for the industry.

UK's Financial Services Authority Publicly Censures Two Glasgow Credit Unions

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has publicly censured two Glasgow based credit unions. Pollok Credit Union jeopardised its own solvency, and therefore the interests of its members, by making large loans to a non-member while Shettleston and Tollcross Credit Union made loans to its directors on terms better than those available to its wider membership.

ESMA Reviews Pre-Trade Transparency Waivers To Ensure Consistent MiFID Application

ESMA today publishes a revision of its waiver document (ESMA/2011/241) which provides information on the pre-trade transparency of trading systems already set up in the European Union and informs on the compliance of such systems with MiFID, the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive. Pre-trade transparency is an integral feature of MiFID.

UK's Financial Services Authority Fines Coutts £8.75 Million For Anti-Money Laundering Control Failings

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has fined Coutts & Company (Coutts) £8.75 million for failing to take reasonable care to establish and maintain effective anti-money laundering (AML) systems and controls relating to high risk customers, including Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs).
