    NYSE Euronext (NYX), in collaboration with the Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO) and The StartUp America Partnership is pleased to announce that the 10 finalists from the Facebook contest of The NYSE Bell Ringing Competition have been invited to ring The Closing Bell® on May 30th at the NYSE.  This competition was part of the NYSE Big StartUpSM, a nationwide jobs-growth initiative designed to connect young companies and entrepreneurs with corporate America.

  • CFTC Staff To Host A Public Roundtable To Discuss The Proposed Volcker Rule

    The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today announced that staff will hold a public roundtable on Thursday, May 31, 2012, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., to discuss the proposed regulations to implement Section 619 (commonly known as the Volcker Rule) of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. Section 619 contains certain prohibitions and restrictions on the ability of banking entities to engage in proprietary trading and to have certain interests in, or relationships with, a hedge fund or private equity fund.

  • NASDAQ Announces End-Of-Month Open Short Interest Positions In NASDAQ Stocks As Of Settlement Date May 15, 2012

    At the end of the settlement date of May 15, 2012, short interest in 2,235 NASDAQ Global MarketSM securities totaled 7,001,712,386 shares compared with 6,721,187,618 shares in 2,241 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of April 30, 2012. The mid-May short interest represents 3.94 days average daily NASDAQ Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 4.17 days for the prior reporting period.

  • Program Trading Averaged 30.3 Percent Of NYSE Volume During May 14-18

    The New York Stock Exchange, a subsidiary of NYSE Euronext (NYX), today released its weekly program-trading data compiled from member firms’ executed volume from NYSE’s orders database.   The report includes trading on the NYSE for May 14-18.
