Trading On The Warsaw Stock Exchange: May 2012

- The total value of trading in shares on the Main Market reached PLN 14.9 billion (down by 36.7% year on year), the volume of trading in derivative instruments was 1.2 million (up by 6.3% year on year).1)
- The incremental value of session trading in shares was PLN 81.7 billion year to date in 2012, as compared to PLN 105.5 billion in the same period of 2011.
- Cash transactions on Treasury BondSpot Poland in May nearly doubled year on year and reached PLN 39.1 billion.
- Spot transactions on the WSE electricity markets reached 9.3 TWh year to date, as compared to 9.1 TWh in 2011 (up by 2.6%), while trading in property rights increased by 21.3% in that period.

HKMEx Gold Trading Surpasses 10,000 Contracts - Milestone Symbolises Growing Market Acceptance

The Hong Kong Mercantile Exchange (HKMEx), China’s global marketplace, announces today that trading of its US-dollar gold futures surpassed 10,000 contracts for the first time on June 1. A total 10,389 gold contracts were traded on the day.

Thai Bourse Launches USD Futures

Kittiratt Na-Ranong, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, presided over the opening ceremony of USD Futures launched by Thailand Futures Exchange (TFEX), under The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) group. He is welcomed by Sompol Kiatphaibool, TFEX’s Chairman, and Charamporn Jotikasthira, SET’s President, together with other SET executives and top executives from financial and capital markets. HKFE Announces Revised Margins For BOC Hong Kong And HKEx Futures

Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited (HKFE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), has announced that with effect from the commencement of trading on Thursday, 7 June 2012, the minimum margins to be collected by an Exchange Participant from its clients in respect of their dealings in the following futures contracts will be as outlined in the table below. The adjustments are based on the clearing company's normal procedures and standard margining methodology.

[Opening Remarks by Minister Jimi]
On May 27, Sunday, I attended an ordinary general meeting of Zentoku (national association of postmasters), which was held in Sapporo, Hokkaido. As has been reported by various mass media, Prime Minister Noda attended this meeting, becoming the first sitting prime minister to do so. Since he took office on September 2, 2011, the prime minister has consistently been calling for an early enactment of the postal bill in the Diet and elsewhere. As a result of efforts made by the Democratic Party of Japan, the Liberal Democratic Party and the New Komeito, the bill to amend the Postal Service Privatization Act was passed on April 27 and promulgated on May 8, as you know.
