Dalian Commodity Exchange - Maturity Of The Futures Market: Steady Operation Under Huge Volume Of Soybean Pulp Transactions

From July 9 to July 13, 23.33 million transactions of soybean pulp futures were made in the Chinese market within one week, and at the weekend positions reached 1.98 million, which undoubtedly created a new record in the Chinese futures market. However, as the general situation tended to be stable, the soybean pulp futures gradually returned to normal and continued to be under steady operation. Market professionals point out that the steady operation of the soybean pulp futures has revealed the domestic (Chinese) futures market and its administrative capacity have reached a new level of development, and the market situation has been completely different from that of the past.

Short Selling Brothers Agree To Pay $14.5 Million To Settle SEC Charges

Futures Industry SRO Committee Announces Additional Initiatives To Strengthen Safeguards For Customer Segregated Funds

A special committee composed of representatives from the futures industry's self-regulatory organizations (SRO) has proposed additional requirements to SRO rules and regulatory practices designed to strengthen safeguards for customer segregated and secured funds held at the firm. The special committee, formed in January 2012, includes representatives from CME Group, NFA, InterContinental Exchange, Kansas City Board of Trade and the Minneapolis Grain Exchange.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announces that on Thursday, July 26, 2012, the CFTC’s Technology Advisory Committee (the “TAC” or “Committee”) will hold a public meeting at the Commission’s headquarters in Washington, DC from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This meeting will focus on identifying and exploring technological issues and possible solutions relating to the ability of the CFTC, self-regulatory organizations and futures commission merchant (FCM) customers to verify the location and status of funds held in customer segregated accounts.
