Finansinspektionen (FI) and the Riksbank have held their second meeting within the framework of the Council for Cooperation on Macroprudential Supervision. The participants discussed the current situation and observed that unease on the financial markets has abated but that underlying structural problems still persist in a number of European countries.

We, Indian Finance Minister P. Chidambaram and U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner, met today in New Delhi for the third annual meeting of the India-U.S. Economic and Financial Partnership. We recognize the progress made in the last two meetings of the Partnership in advancing the financial and economic relationship between our two nations since its launch in 2010 in New Delhi. The Partnership meetings have served as the forum for the highest level of engagement between India and the United States. Governor Subbarao and Chairman Bernanke and other senior officials participated in our meeting. We are committed to continue to build on our past discussions and explore new areas to deepen and broaden our economic and financial engagements.

European Parliament: Bank Supervision And Bond Buying Top The Agenda With Draghi

STOXX Introduces Low Risk Weighted Index Concept

STOXX Limited, the market-moving provider of innovative, tradable and global index concepts, today announced the launch of the STOXX Europe Low Risk Weighted 100 Index which represents a hypothetical investment portfolio that selects those 100 components with the lowest volatility from the STOXX Europe 600 Index. Components are weighted reversely by their volatility in order to achieve a minimal risk in the STOXX Europe Low Risk Weighted 100 Index: since inception (March 2001), the new index shows an annualized volatility of 13.28%, while the underlying STOXX Europe 600 Index shows a annualized volatility of 21.16% over the same timeframe.

IOSCO Publishes Policy Recommendations For Money Market Funds

The International Organization of Securities Commission (IOSCO) has published today a final report on Policy Recommendations for Money Market Funds, which proposes recommendations to be the basis for common standards for the regulation and management of money market funds across jurisdictions. These are articulated around key principles for valuation, liquidity management, use of ratings, disclosure to investors, and repos.
