Statement By EIB president Hoyer Following Press Reports On The EIB Group Position On Greece

Following press reports about the EIB Group’s position on Greece, EIB President Werner Hoyer issued the following statement:
“The EIB Group looks forward to increasing its financing for projects in Greece. As a long term investor institution for the whole EU, the EU Bank does not apply country quotas but evaluates funding opportunities based on the number, nature and quality of the projects that are submitted to it. Accordingly, the EIB cannot predict the amount of lending it will make available for any given country. Subject to this model, the Bank is actively looking for opportunities and proposals for project funding in Greece and to options for increasing its overall level of financial involvement in the country."
