UK's Financial Conduct Authority Says General Insurance Add-On Industry Must Make Changes
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is proposing a shake-up of the £1bn general insurance add-on markets including banning pre-ticked boxes, forcing firms to publish claims ratios and breaking the point of sale advantage for guaranteed asset protection (GAP) insurance, usually offered alongside car sales.

SIX Exchange Regulation: Weatherford International Ltd. Fined By Sanction Commission
The Sanction Commission has imposed a fine of CHF 250,000 against Weatherford International Ltd. for an error in its 2011 US GAAP financial statements. The sanction relates to an incorrect calculation of the income taxes in the 2011 financial statements.

Japan's Financial Services Agency Memorandum Of Cooperation With U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission
On March 10, the Financial Services Agency (FSA) and the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC)(PDF:674KB) regarding cooperation and the exchange of information in the supervision and oversight of regulated entities that operate on a cross-border basis in both Japan and the United States.

- Share volumes traded across Tape A, B, and C totaled 133.1 billion shares, a decrease of 8.7% monthly, and increase of 6.5% annually.
- In February 2014, off-exchange trading accounted for 35.7% of the shares traded in NMS Equity Securities, a decrease of 1.7% compared to last month.
- NYSE-listed securities share volume was 69.8 billion shares, a decrease of 8.2% monthly and increase of .6% annually.
- Share volume in NASDAQ-listed securities was 40.1 billion shares, an 11.7% monthly decrease and 11.4% annual increase.
