Bermuda Stock Exchange Will Be Closed For Bermuda National Heroes Day Holiday

The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) advises that the Exchange will be closed on Monday, 15 June, 2015, in observance of the Bermuda National Heroes Day Public Holiday. The BSX will re-open on Tuesday, 16 June, 2015.

The Commission has not significantly revised its transfer agent rules in almost 30 years, a period that has witnessed sweeping changes in the securities industry, particularly in transfer agents’ activities. As a result, the Commission’s anachronistic transfer agent rules and the services that the nation’s roughly 450 transfer agents provide today are out of sync.[1] Accordingly, improving the transfer agent regime has been a stated Commission goal for some time.[2] Indeed, even members of the transfer agent industry have acknowledged the pressing need to modernize the Commission’s transfer agent rules.[3]

New Exchange Council Approves Organised Secondary Market For Capacity Guarantees In France - Peter Heydecker Re-Confirmed As Exchange Council Chairman

At its constituent meeting in Leipzig, the Members of the Exchange Council of EPEX SPOT elected Peter Heydecker as their Chairman. They also designated Dr. Michael Redanz from MVV Trading, Mr Andrea Siri from Edison Trading, and Dr. Bernhard Walter from EnBW Trading as Vice-Chairmen of the Exchange Council. The Council also appointed the following permanent guests: Mr. Thorsten Dietz from Tennet TSO GmbH, Mr. Manfred Pils from APG, Mr. Stefan Sewckow from Trianel GmbH, and Mr. Jan Horst Keppler from Université Paris-Dauphine as academic counsel.

Clearstream is now able to offer settlement and custody for Mexican corporate debt instruments ("Cebures"). This move will give international investors access to Mexican Peso-denominated securities and in return unlock the pool of capital provided by Clearstream’s international customers for Mexican corporate issuers.

Commenting on the announcement from the Government that it will be selling its stake in The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), John Thanassoulis, Professor of Financial Economics at Warwick Business School said: “The taxpayer will definitely lose out on this deal and, as a result, I’m not sure why now is viewed as the right time to start selling. It’s unclear to me as to what has changed in the last few months or even in the last year to warrant such action.
