  • Thai Listed Companies Make ASEAN’s Top H1 Dividend Payout Ratio

    A total of 120 companies listed on The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and Market for Alternative Investment (mai) has announced interim dividend payment of a combined THB 95.3 billion (approx. USD 2.7 billion) for the first half of 2015, representing dividend payout ratio of 60 percent, the highest in ASEAN, indicating their strong fundamental and effective cost management.

  • HKFE Announces Revised Margins For China Mobile And CNOOC Futures

    Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited (HKFE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), has announced that with effect from the commencement of trading on Thursday, 27 August 2015, the minimum margins to be collected by an Exchange Participant from its clients in respect of their dealings in the following futures contract will be as outlined in the table below. The adjustments are based on the clearing company’s normal procedures and standard margining methodology.

    “Monetary policy decisions on the other side of the Atlantic will capture investors’ attention in the coming months. At the same time, implications arising from PBOC’s devaluation of the yuan will be closely watched and are expected to remain on investors’ radar. Risk-on-off drivers and volatility patterns triggered by contagion risks and information flows are expected to weigh on portfolio allocation decisions in the short run. Once again, the current and expected scenarios appear to favour allocations to minimum-variance portfolios, with a view to a longer-term investment horizon."

    On August 20, the “2015 China Coal-Coke-Steel Industry Conference (CCIC)” kicked off in Hangzhou. Zhu Congjiu, vice governor of Zhejiang Province, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Addressing the opening ceremony, Feng Bo, CEO of Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE), said that DCE’s system of coal-coke-steel futures products has become more mature with the economic function in serving the industrial entities gradually brought into play; currently DCE is promoting the internationalization of the iron ore futures.

  • SGX: 20 Most Actively Traded Structured Warrants In August To Date

    • Put warrants can be used by investors to hedge against a fall in the value of a portfolio. Investors can also use call warrants to gain some exposure to a market rebound without committing a significant amount of capital in the current market environment.
    • In the month of August, the most active five warrant by turnover have consisted of three HSI Put Warrants and two HSI Call Warrants. The most active HSI Call and Put Warrant have a 29 September 2015 expiry, with respective strike prices of 25,200 and 23,800. The HSI is currently trading near 21,500.

    Indian businesses were less confident about the business environment in August as subdued domestic demand offset the positive impact of lower inflation and interest rates. The MNI India Business Sentiment Indicator, a gauge of current sentiment among BSE-listed companies, fell by 4.6% to 62.3 in August from 65.3 in July.
