  • UK’s Financial Conduct Authority Introduces New Rules On Whistleblowing

    The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), alongside the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), has today published new rules in relation to whistleblowing. These changes follow recommendations in 2013  by the Parliamentary Commission on Banking Standards (PCBS) that banks put in place mechanisms to allow their employees to raise concerns internally (i.e., to ‘blow the whistle’) and that they appoint a senior person to take responsibility for the effectiveness of these arrangements.

  • PEGAS Volumes Increase 29 % Year-On-Year

    PEGAS, the pan-European gas trading platform operated by Powernext, announced that a total volume of 70.6 TWh was traded in September 2015, representing a year-on-year increase of 29 % (September 2014: 54.8 TWh).

  • European Shareholders Considering Legal Proceedings Against Volkswagen

    On 18 September 2015 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency brought to light the fact that Volkswagen used software that reduces emissions when the car is being tested, making the vehicle appear more environmentally-friendly than it actually is. Since the announcement Volkswagen has admitted that an estimated 11 million cars worldwide were involved in the falsified emission reports. Reports have emerged that Volkswagen’s top management had been aware of the deception since before the official ad-hoc announcement.
