Finomial Addresses Risks To Hedge Funds From Panama Papers

Finomial Corporation today highlighted the role of the Finomial Investor Services Compliance Platform in protecting hedge funds from the risks highlighted by the Panama Papers leak. While the media focus to date has been on the law firm’s role (Mossack Fonseca) in creating shell entities (which in many cases are legal), Finomial protects hedge funds from the risk of unwitting acceptance by the investment management community of money from entities with unknown beneficial owners.

Office Of Financial Research Update: "Systemic Importance Data Shed Light On Global Banking Risks"

The OFR released a brief today entitled, "Systemic Importance Data Shed Light on Global Banking Risks," and an accompanying blog by Stacey Schreft, OFR Deputy Director for Research and Analysis. The brief used the latest available data to show that U.S. banks remained among the most systemically important, while the systemic importance scores of Chinese banks increased the most. Also with this brief, the OFR introduced an online interactive chart to help users compare the 30 global systemically important banks, or G-SIBs. Regulators will begin phasing in capital surcharges on G-SIBs this year.

Office Of The Comptroller of the Currency Assesses $35 Million Penalty Against HSBC Bank US, N.A. - Orders Restitution To Customers For Unfair Billing Practices

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) today assessed a $35 million penalty against HSBC Bank USA, N.A., McLean, Virginia, and ordered the bank to identify and make restitution to harmed customers.
