ESMA Publishes Updated Q&A On CFDs And Other Speculative Products

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has published today an updated version of its question and answer document (Q&A) on the application of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) to the marketing and sale of financial contracts for difference (CFDs) and other speculative products to retail clients (such as binary options and rolling spot forex).

SGX Freight Monthly Report – May 2016

• SGX freight derivative volumes totaled 53,477 contracts in May (-27% m/m; +303% y/y), while open interest hit a new record averaging 122,427 contracts during the month (+5% m/m; +249% y/y).

• At the end of May, Brent crude prices rallied past the key psychological $50/barrel level for the first time since November 2015. WTI also rallied past $50/barrel for the first time since July 2015. This rally could be seen as a continuation of the one which started in April after the market shrugged off the disappointment of the Saudi/Russia talks.

May Statistics Report From The Nasdaq Nordic Exchanges

Share Trading The value of average daily share trading amounted to EUR 2.7 billion, compared to EUR 3.0 billion during the past 12-month period. The average number of trades per trading day was 410,449 compared to 444,792 during the past 12-month period. The total market cap of listed companies at Nasdaq Nordic Exchange amounted to EUR 1 133 billion, compared to EUR 1 174 billion in May 2015.
