  • Non-Jordanian Investment At The Amman Stock Exchange During February 2017

    The total value of shares that were bought by non-Jordanian investors at the Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) during February 2017 was JD521.0 million, representing 50.3% of the overall trading value, while the value of shares sold by them amounted to JD905.4 million. As a result, the net of non-Jordanian investments during February 2017 showed a decrease by JD384.4 million, compared with an increase by JD44.5 million during the same month of 2016. The reason for this decline in the net investments is due to selling of a Lebanese company; Oger Middle East Holding its stake in the Arab Bank to a group of Arab and Jordanian investors, the volume of the block trade amounted JD794.4 million.

  • Dalian Commodity Exchange Holds Forum On “Insurance + Futures” Pilot Programs

    Recently, Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) has held a forum on “insurance + futures” pilot programs in Beijing. The pilot program combines the use of the futures market and agricultural insurance. It makes use of the futures market to transfer the price risks that insurance companies face, while helping to ensure basic earnings for farmers through means such as insurance products. At the forum, Mr. Fang Xing Hai, Vice Chairman of China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) emphasized that the "insurance + futures" model is of great practical significance and worth promoting further. Therefore, all futures exchanges should respond to the central government’s call for steadily expanding the pilot program, by putting into more resources to summarize past experience and improve the operational model.

  • Monetary Authority Of Singapore Takes Civil Penalty Enforcement Action Against Mr Wang Boon Heng And Ms Foo Jee Chin For Unauthorised Share Trading

    The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has successfully obtained a civil penalty judgment against Mr Wang Boon Heng (Wang) and Ms Foo Jee Chin (Foo) for contravening section 201(b) of the Securities and Futures Act (SFA), which prohibits any conduct that operates as a fraud or deception in connection with the subscription, purchase or sale of securities. This case was referred to MAS by the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Ltd.

  • Gender Equality International Women's Day To Ring The Nasdaq Stock Market Closing Bell

    To commemorate Gender Equality International Women's Day, Women in ETFs (WE), the first women’s group for the ETF industry, and five partner organizations will visit the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square.

    In honor of the occasion, Jill Mavro, co-President of Women in ETFs, Senior Managing Director at State Street Global Advisors SPDR, and Lise Kingo, Executive Director, United Nations Global Compact, will ring the Closing Bell.
