    The Nigerian Stock Exchange (“NSE” or Exchange) today exclusively listed the Series 1 of the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) Savings Bond, maturing March 2019. The Savings Bond, the first of its kind in Nigeria, was opened to investing public by way of offer for subscription over a 5 day offer period starting from Monday, March 13, 2017 to March 17, 2017 and N2, 067, 961, 000 was raised from the retail market at 13.01 percent coupon.

  • Amman Stock Exchange: The ASE Index Quarterly Review For The Second Quarter 2017

    The CEO of the Amman Stock Exchange (ASE), Mr. Nader Azar said that the ASE has conducted the periodic quarterly review of the ASE index constituents in purpose of ensuring that the ASE General Price Index reflects the market performance and the trading activity of the listed companies. By this rebalancing, the activity of listed companies in regard to trading during the last quarter has been reviewed. After that, the ASE has conducted its screening process for all listed companies using the full market capitalization of the companies and the number of trading days during last quarter. It is worth mentioning that the criteria adopted by the ASE are similar to the international practices applied in this field. These criteria are applied by many leading international index providers.

    The UK government announced today it is invoking article 50 of the Treaty of the EU, which serves as formal notification of its intent to withdraw from the Union. Starting today the UK and the EU have two years to negotiate a withdrawal agreement. In addition the two will need to start determining the future trade relations, though this is expected to take significantly longer.     OCC, the world's largest equity derivatives clearing organization, today announced that Andrej Bolkovic, CEO of ABN AMRO Clearing Chicago LLC, and Jamil Nazarali, Head of Execution Services at Citadel Securities, have joined the board of directors as Member Directors. Bolkovic was appointed to fill a vacancy for a term ending in 2017 created by the departure of John Ruth, and also was nominated for election this year. Nazarali was appointed to fill a vacancy created by the departure of George S. Fischer with a term ending in 2018.

    LCH Group notes the announcement by London Stock Exchange Group plc (“LSEG”), Deutsche Börse AG (“Deutsche Börse”) and HLDCO123 PLC that the European Commission has officially notified them of its decision to prohibit the recommended all-share merger between LSEG and Deutsche Börse on the basis of the EU Merger Regulation. As a consequence of the termination of the Merger, LCH Group confirms that the proposed sale of LCH SA by LSEG and LCH Group to Euronext N.V. will also terminate in accordance with its terms.

    So, here it is, six pages: the notification from Prime Minister Theresa May, triggering Article 50 and formally starting the negotiations of the United Kingdom's withdrawal from the European Union. There is no reason to pretend that this is a happy day, neither in Brussels, nor in London. After all, most Europeans, including almost half the British voters wish that we would stay together, not drift apart. As for me I will not pretend that I am happy today.
