New Research Shows European Demand For U.S. Equity Options Remains Strong

The Options Industry Council (OIC), an industry resource funded and managed by OCC, the world's largest equity derivatives clearing organization, today announced the results of the study, European Demand for U.S. Exchange-Listed Equity Options 2018, conducted by Burton-Taylor International Consulting and commissioned by OIC.

Good morning. This meeting will come to order. This is a public meeting of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
I am pleased to be joined today by my colleagues, Commissioners Brian Quintenz and Rostin Benham in our first public meeting together as a Commission.
These hearings require great preparation. I would like to thank the CFTC staff for their hard work and input.
We are here today to consider one final rule amending the swap data access provisions and two proposed rules amending the Volcker Rule and Swaps Dealer de minimis calculations.

PEGAS Trading Volumes In May 2018 - PEGAS Spot Progresses By 28% Year-On-Year Boosted By Increased Volumes On All Hubs

PEGAS, the pan-European gas trading platform operated by Powernext, registered a total volume of 156.0 TWh in May 2018 which represented a year-to-year growth of 11% (May 2017: 140.7 TWh). The Dutch delivery zone TTF remained the dominant hub on PEGAS with an overall volume of 89.6 TWh, followed by the German NCG and Gaspool hubs with a total of 30.1 TWh. The Austrian CEGH VTP market area had a strong showing with 11.1 TWh, including 4.8 TWh on the derivatives segment, making it again the most liquid hub behind the TTF on the curve.

Boursa Kuwait Adopts FTSE Russell’s Industry Classification Benchmark

CME Group Reached Average Daily Volume Of 20.1 Million Contracts In May 2018, Up 22 Percent From May 2017

CME Group, the world's leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace, today announced it reached average daily volume (ADV) of 20.1 million contracts during May 2018, up 22 percent from May 2017. Open interest at the end of May was 126 million contracts, an increase of 2 percent from the end of May 2017, and up 16 percent from year-end 2017.

(1) Update on Progress toward Further Transparency in the Screening Procedures (the 2016-2017 Strategic Directions and Priorities)
As part of efforts toward greater transparency in the licensing/registration procedures, the FSA published “Grounds for Refusing Registration, and Relevant Statutes and Regulations Pertaining to Viewpoints in Registration-Screening as a High Speed Trader (
Appendix 1(PDF: 50KB)).” In addition, the FSA added two particular cases in “Particular Cases from the Past Applications for New License and Registration by Foreign Operators (
Appendix 2(PDF: 79KB)),” for foreign operators to understand the screening procedures more clearly.
