- New Year: The market will close on 1 January (Monday) and resume trading on 2 January (Tuesday).
- Spring Festival: The market will close from 15 February (Thursday) to 21 February (Wednesday), and resume trading on 22 February (Thursday).
- Qingming Festival: The market will close from 5 April (Thursday) to 8 April (Sunday), and resume trading on 9 April (Monday).
- Labour Day: The market will close from 29 April (Sunday) to 1 May (Tuesday)and resume trading on 2 May (Wednesday).
- Dragon Boat Festival: The market will close from 16 June (Saturday) to 18 June (Monday), and resume trading on 19 June (Tuesday).

SIX Announces Joint Venture With Provider Of Radio-Frequency Solutions

Today, SIX Swiss Exchange AG (“SIX”), the operator of the Swiss stock exchange, and12Horizons Pte Ltd (“12Horizons”), a specialized provider of radio-frequency solutions based in Singapore, have announced a joint venture. The joint venture will operate under the name of 12H AG (“12H”) and provide low-latency access for Swiss securities trading via radio- frequency technology. Compared to fiber optic technology, for example, radio frequency technology enables significantly faster transmission of data.

6th Shanghai Stock Exchange Forum On Rule Of Law Held In Shanghai

On December 15, sponsored by the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) and co-sponsored by Peking University, Renmin University of China and East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPL), the 6th SSE Forum on Rule of Law was held in Shanghai with the theme of the legal construction on the capital market in the new era. Huang Wei, Assistant to Chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), and SSE Chairman Wu Qing attended and made addresses at the forum. Also present at the forum were more than 100 attendees including the representatives, experts and scholars from legislative, judicial and regulatory authorities, universities and research institutes and the market participants.

The Federal Home Loan Bank of New York (“FHLBNY”) announced today that Larry E. Thompson has been elected by its Board of Directors (“Board”) to serve as the Board’s vice chairman for 2018. Mr. Thompson, who is the vice chairman of The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation, has served on the Bank’s Board as an Independent Director since January 1, 2014.

Office Of Financial Research Update: “Updated Bank Data Show Rising Systemic Importance Of Asian Banks”

The OFR issued new blog, “Updated Bank Data Show Rising Systemic Importance of Asian Banks.” The blog, by OFR Deputy Director for Research and Analysis Stacey Schreft, says that new data on the world’s largest banks show the increasing systemic importance of Asian banks. The data also show that U.S. banks’ systemic footprint still dominates the global totals. Indeed, eight U.S. banks are still considered global systemically important banks (G-SIBs). G-SIBs must hold more capital than other banks. Among the U.S. banks in the tier below G-SIBs, the U.S. operations of a few foreign banks rank as the most systemically important, according to the blog.

FINRA Fines Raymond James Financial Services, Inc. $2 Million For Failing To Reasonably Supervise Email Communications

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) announced today that it has fined Raymond James Financial Services, Inc. $2 million for failing to maintain reasonably designed supervisory systems and procedures for reviewing email communications. In addition, Raymond James has agreed to conduct a risk-based retrospective review to detect potential violations evidenced in past emails.
