ESMA Adopts Final Product Intervention Measures On CFDs And Binary Options

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has formally adopted new measures on the provision of contracts for differences (CFDs) and binary options to retail investors.

The China Iron and Steel Industry Association (CISA) and Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) jointly held the “2018 Workshop on Basis Trading & Derivatives Business for Iron and Steel Enterprises” on May 10-11. CISA Vice Chairman Chi Jingdong, DCE Vice President Zhu Lihong, and nearly 100 persons from iron and steel enterprises and risk management subsidiaries of futures companies from all over the country attended the workshop.

ASIC Consults On Foreign Financial Services Providers Relief Proposals

ASIC has today released a consultation paper proposing a modified licensing regime for foreign financial service providers carrying on a financial services business in Australia with wholesale clients. These foreign providers are global investment banks or wholesale managed funds. This approach would provide ASIC with a broader range of tools to regulate the activities of foreign providers in Australia.

Nadex: Monthly Bitcoin Mini Spread Contracts To List For June 1, 2018

On February 27, 2018, North American Derivatives Exchange, Inc. (“Nadex”, the “Exchange”) submitted to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (the “Commission”), its intent to list new Mini Bitcoin Variable Payout Contracts, based on the underlying USD TeraBit Price Index, on or after March 1, 2018.  The new Mini Bitcoin Variable Payout (“Spread”) contract will have a duration of one month, and will be listed on the first trade date of each new month and expire on the last trade date of the month.
