Workshop On Digital Currency Economics And Policy Discusses The Implications Of Digital Currencies For Monetary Policy And Financial Stability

Leading international and local academics convene in Singapore today to discuss how digital currencies will impact monetary policy and financial stability. The two-day Workshop on Digital Currency Economics and Policy is co-organised and funded by the Asian Bureau of Finance and Economic Research (ABFER), the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). The list of paper presenters is appended in Annex A.

Introduction
It is a pleasure to be here today to speak about ASIC's key strategic priorities and focus areas over the coming year. Today I will be especially focusing on our important new supervisory approaches.
Firstly, I would like to acknowledge that the Royal Commission has very effectively highlighted widespread misconduct, and conduct that does not meet community standards, across the finance sector. Importantly, the human impacts and personal costs of this conduct have been in clear focus.

Shenzhen Stock Exchange Signs Strategic Cooperation Agreements With State Development And Investment Corporation

On 13 November 2018, State Development and Investment Corporation (SDIC) and Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE) signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Shenzhen. This is a significant move for the parties to carry out the guiding principles of the 19th CPC National Congress and boost the deepening of SOE reform. SDIC Chairman Wang Huisheng, SDIC President Shi Hongxiang, SZSE Chairman Wu Lijun, and SZSE President &CEO Wang Jianjun attended the signing ceremony.

In order to standardize the member units’ handling of investors’ appeals, divert and resolve conflicts in the securities market, and effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests of investors, the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (hereinafter referred as the SZSE) and the Shanghai Stock Exchange (hereinafter referred as the SSE), under the guidance of Investor Protection Bureau of the China Securities Regulatory Commission(hereinafter referred as the CSRC), held training seminar on work of investors' education and protection for members from November 8 to 9 on Yan'an, Shaanxi Province. Relevant principals from Investor Protection Bureau of the CSRC, Complaints and Proposals departments, Shaanxi Bureau of CSRC, Anhui Bureau of CSRC, Securities Association of China, China Securities Investor Services Center and Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration attended and gave lectures on the seminar, and more than 180 relevant principals and staff working on investors’ education from the member units attended the seminar.

Thank you for that introduction. I’m happy to be back here at NYU as part of the Program on Corporate Compliance & Enforcement (PCCE). Over the years, the PCCE has brought together some of the best thinking in the enforcement, business, and academic community to develop a richer and deeper understanding of the causes of corporate misconduct, and how enforcement and compliance programs can most effectively deter it. The result is that the work here at the PCCE has been a driver of some of the most significant developments in Enforcement and Compliance.
