SEC Emergency Action Charges Texas Real Estate Developer For Multi-Million Dollar Offering Fraud

The Securities and Exchange Commission announced today that it filed charges against Texas resident and real estate developer Phillip Michael Carter, two other individuals, and several related entities for conducting a multi-million dollar offering fraud.

Shorcan Brokers Limited (Shorcan), TMX Group's fixed income interdealer broker, held its 21st Annual Charity Day on January 24, 2019, raising more than $720,000 in support of a range of Canadian charitable organizations. Each year, Shorcan donates revenue from the trading day to a variety of designated charities, resulting in a total of $9.9M raised since the inaugural event in 1999.

A total turnover of 1.807 billion shares worth N17.232 billion in 18,332 deals were traded this week by investors on the floor of the Exchange in contrast to a total of 1.270 billion shares valued at N13.463 billion that exchanged hands last week in 16,476 deals.

Federal Reserve Board Appoints Stacey M. Tevlin As Director Of The Division Of Research And Statistics

The Federal Reserve Board on Friday announced the appointment of Stacey M. Tevlin as director of the Division of Research and Statistics, effective February 4. Tevlin, currently an associate director of the division, will succeed David W. Wilcox, who recently retired as director of the division after 30 years of service with the Federal Reserve Board.

ETFGI Reports ETFs And ETPs Listed In Canada Gather Net Inflows Of US$1.74 Billion During December 2018

ETFGI, a leading independent research and consultancy firm covering trends in the global ETF/ETP ecosystem, reported today that ETFs and ETPs listed in Canada gathered net inflows of US$1.74 billion during December, bringing 2018 net inflows to US$15.69 billion. Assets invested in the Canadian ETF/ETP industry finished the month down 4.60%, from US$121 billion at the end of November, to US$115 billion, according to ETFGI’s December 2018 Canadian ETF and ETP industry landscape insights report, an annual paid-for research subscription service.  (All dollar values in USD unless otherwise noted.)
