Securities Commission Malaysia: Court Grants Order To Freeze Rm169 Million Of Ricky Wong's Assets

The Kuala Lumpur High Court had on 8 May 2020, granted an interim Order for the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) to freeze the assets of, among others, Wong Shee Kai (Ricky Wong), who is currently still at-large. The Order stems from the SC’s suit against the defendants in relation to securities fraud offences involving Bright Packaging Industry Berhad under Section 179 of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007 (CMSA).

Qatar Stock Exchange Listed Companies Reported QR 8.3 Billion Net Profits The 1st Quarter Of 2020

All of Qatar Stock Exchange listed companies (47 listed companies ) have disclosed their financial results for the period ended March 31, 2020. The results show a net profit of QR 8.3 Billion compared to QR 10.5 Billion for the same period last year, the mount shows decrease with 20%.

EBA Launches Updated College Collaboration Platform

The European Banking Authority (EBA) launched an updated version of its online collaboration platform enabling the joint work and sharing of information between authorities involved in supervision and resolution of cross-border banking groups. Thanks to its enhanced functionalities, the updated college platform facilitates the operation of the colleges and ensures high security standards.

IMF Executive Board Approves A US$121.1 Million In Emergency Assistance Under The Rapid Financing Instrument And Rapid Credit Facility For The Kyrgyz Republic To Address The COVID-19 Pandemic

- The Executive Board of the IMF approved US$ 121.1 million in emergency assistance to the Kyrgyz Republic. This is the second IMF emergency loan under the RFI/RCF for the Kyrgyz Republic since the outbreak of the pandemic:
- The IMF emergency support addresses the urgent balance of payments need, shores up confidence, and catalyzes donor support.
- To ensure that the financing provided is efficiently spent on addressing the crisis, the authorities have committed to strengthen procurement rules.

Federal Financial Regulatory Agencies Issue Interagency Policy Statement On Allowances For Credit Losses And Interagency Guidance On Credit Risk Review Systems

Four federal financial regulatory agencies have approved a policy statement on allowances for credit losses. The statement will promote consistency in the interpretation and application of the Financial Accounting Standards Board's credit losses accounting standard, which introduces the current expected credit losses (CECL) methodology.

IMF Executive Board Approves A US$31.2 Million Purchase In Emergency Assistance To Seychelles To Address The COVID-19 Pandemic

- The IMF approved Seychelles’ request for emergency financial assistance under the Rapid Financing Instrument (RFI) of about US $31.2 million.
- The near-term economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic is expected to be severe. Restriction in travel will hinder tourism and weaken fiscal and external positions, creating large additional financing needs.
- The authorities reacted swiftly by taking immediate measures of containment, including border closures, strengthening health policy responses and supporting households and firms.
