Manuel Baptista has joined Broadridge Financial Solutions as Managing Director, Head of Investor Communication Solutions International (ICSI) Sales. Baptista will lead the sales team and support the expansion of Broadridge’s ICSI suite of services. He will work closely with issuers, custodians and intermediaries, and institutional investors to navigate regulatory and market change such as the amended EU Shareholder Rights Directive.

BNP Paribas Asset Management Announces Tighter Exclusion Policy On Coal Companies

BNP Paribas Asset Management (‘BNPP AM’) announces its plan to implement an enhanced coal-exclusion policy, accelerating its commitment to tackle climate change by divesting from the single largest source of carbon emissions. The tighter exclusion policy on companies engaged in mining thermal coal and generating electricity from coal will come into effect at the start of 2020. It will apply to all of BNPP AM’s actively managed open-ended funds, as well as becoming the default policy for segregated mandates.

Shanghai Stock Exchange: Q&A On Securities Companies Authorizing Clients To Trade Stocks On Sci-Tech Innovation Board

Q: When can the investors intending to participate in trading stocks on the sci-tech innovation board file the trading application?
A: On March 1, the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) officially announced the "Special Provisions of the Shanghai Stock Exchange on Trading Stocks on the Sci-tech Innovation Board" (the "Special Trading Provisions" for short), which provides the specific requirements for individual investors to trade on the sci-tech innovation board. The way of authorization for trading stocks on the sci-tech innovation board is largely the same as that of the South-bound Investment Channel of the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect. Investors who meet the suitability requirements for the stocks on the sci-tech innovation board can apply for the relevant authorization from now on. The investors may only submit trading applications to the securities companies they entrust and have the trading privileges of Sci-tech Innovation Board shares added to their existing SSE A-shares securities accounts. There’s no need to open a new securities account with China Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation Limited (CSDC). Nor are members required to apply to the SSE for other matters.

As the major EG (Ethylene Glycol) production, import and consumption areas in China, East China, with Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province and Shanghai as its core, has been clustered with large numbers of companies in the upstream, middle stream and downstream of the EG industry, whose production capacity, output and import volume take up 40%, 50% and 90% of the total in China, making it a place of strategic importance in the cultivation of the EG futures market.
