The World Federation of Exchanges (“WFE”), the global industry group for exchanges and CCPs, has today responded to the International Organization of Securities Commissions’ (IOSCO) Growth and Emerging Market Committee (GEMC) consultation on ‘Sustainable Finance in Emerging Markets and the Role of Securities Regulators’.

The total value of shares traded for the month  ending 31 March 2019 amounted to SAR 61.74 billion, increasing by 31.35% over the previous month; while total stock market capitalization reached SAR 2,087.01 billion at the end of this period, increasing by 3.81% over the previous month

• The total value of shares purchased by “Saudi Investors” during this period amounted to SAR 50.59 billion representing 81.94% of total buying activity, and sales of SAR  55.29 billion representing 89.55% of total selling activity. Total ownership of “Saudi Investors” stood at 92.65% of total market capitalization as of 31 March 2019, representing a decrease of 0.22% from the previous month. 
• The total value of shares purchased by “GCC Investors” during this period amounted to SAR 1.15 billion representing 1.86% of total buying activity, and sales of SAR 1.42 billion representing 2.31% of total selling activity. Total ownership of “GCC Investors” stood at 2.04% of total market capitalization as of 31 March 2019, representing an decrease of 0.01% from the previous month. 
• The total value of shares purchased by “Foreign Investors” during this period amounted to SAR 10.00 billion representing 16.19% of total buying activity, and sales of SAR 5.03 billion representing 8.14% of total selling activity. Total ownership of “Foreign Investors” stood at 5.31% of total market capitalization as of 31 March 2019, representing an increase of 0.23% from the previous month.

Claims Management Companies Enter UK Financial Conduct Authority Regulation Today

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) begins regulating the claims management industry from today (1 April). All claims management companies (CMCs) in England, Scotland and Wales will now have to demonstrate they meet and maintain minimum standards set by the FCA. All existing and new CMCs will need to apply to the FCA for authorisation.

Circular Of Shanghai International Energy Exchange On Trading Adjustments Of Crude Oil Futures Contracts For Qingming Festival 2019

Shanghai International Energy Exchange (hereinafter referred to as “INE”), the subsidiary of Shanghai Futures Exchange has released its Circular on Trading Adjustments of Crude Oil Futures Contracts for Qingming Festival 2019 on April 1, 2019 as follows:

1. The market will be closed from 3:00 p.m. of April 4, 2019 to April 7, 2019. The market will resume trading on April 8, 2019 with the central auction session from 8:55 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and the continuous trading on the night of that day.
2. The market will resume trading on April 8, 2019. As from the first trading day without the Limit-locked market, INE will adjust the trading margin rate to 9% and the price limit to ±7% since the daily clearing process begins.
