SIFMA Statement On Final DOL Electronic Disclosure Rule

SIFMA today released the following statement from Kenneth E. Bentsen, Jr., SIFMA president and CEO, regarding the newly final rule from the Department of Labor (DOL) on electronic delivery of retirement plans disclosures:
“We support this commonsense, environmentally and consumer friendly effort to modernize the transfer of retirement information in a digital age, which is consistent with the way Americans want to receive information, particularly given current circumstances. Participants of all ages and incomes increasingly prefer to access information online and believe that doing so makes it easier to act on the information.”

Simplifile Adds E-recording In 55 Eastern And Southern U.S. Jurisdictions

Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE:ICE), a leading operator of global exchanges and clearing houses and provider of data and listings services, today announced that 55 recording jurisdictions in the eastern and southern U.S. have joined Simplifile’s e-recording network. Simplifile is part of ICE Mortgage Services, which applies technology and high-capacity infrastructure to make the mortgage process electronic and more efficient.

ETFGI Reports ETFs And ETPs Listed In Canada Gathered US$ 455 Million In Net Inflows During April 2020

ETFGI, a leading independent research and consultancy firm covering trends in the global ETFs/ETPs ecosystem, reported today that ETFs listed in Canada gathered US$455 million in net inflows during April, bringing year-to-date net inflows to US$12.57 billion which is significantly more than the US$4.50 billion gathered year-to-date in 2019. In the month, Canadian ETF assets increased by 1.5%, from US$144.18 billion at the end of March to US$146.39 billion. At the end of April 2020, the Canadian ETFs/ETPs industry had 785 ETFs/ETPs, with 951 listings, from 40 providers on 2 exchanges according to ETFGI's April 2020 Canada ETFs and ETPs industry landscape insights report, an annual paid-for research subscription service. Over the past three years, Comptroller Joseph Otting and his team at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency have been an invaluable resource to me and the Commission staff, including in connection with Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC) matters. Investors and our markets more generally have benefitted from their valuable insight into, and advice regarding, market conditions and, in particular, the interconnections between the capital markets and the banking sector. Importantly, this insight and advice, without exception, has embodied Comptroller Otting’s operational experience, market expertise, pragmatism and candor. Professionally and personally, I thank Joseph for bringing those characteristics to all of our engagements and, with deep appreciation, I wish him all the best.
